Psychotherapy for children and adolescents

Suffering is also present in the lives of children and adolescents, who often have difficulty understanding and expressing their own emotions and thoughts. Psychotherapy becomes necessary when the patient begins to show impairments in his family, social and school life, affecting his quality of life and mental health.

Psychotherapy with children and adolescents is different from that performed with adults. As they are still in the process of developing their cognitive and emotional capacities and their personality, the psychotherapeutic process must adapt to the patient's moment of life. In this sense, the techniques used depend on age, ranging from games, games and recreational activities for younger children to more complex activities.

Another particularity of therapy for children and adolescents lies in the fact that, in most cases, the demand for care comes from parents and caregivers, and not from the patient himself. Thus, understanding the context in which it is inserted is fundamental. Therefore, conversations with parents, significant family members, school and other professionals who care for the patient are desirable.

I offer face-to-face care for children from 6 years old in Campinas-SP. Online care can start around 12 years of age, but each case must be evaluated individually.
